Positive Things About RSD: Turning those frowns upside down!

RSD causes cell death (that's part of the "Dystrophy" part), causing ugly flaky and scaly skin that sloughs off all the time.

Lots of women pay hundreds of dollars to have their skin sloughed off, and lucky me, I can do it with just my fingers! Look at that lovely, glowy, fresh complexion that others would just die for and pay so much money trying to achieve, and my RSD lets me get it easily, for free!

I can't hold down a job/I can't be a [fill in the blank] any more] because of my RSD.

I get to live a lower-stress lifestyle and focus on self-development. Maybe one day I'll get back to the workforce, but Jehovah has given me this period in my life to focus on me and making myself a better person. I have all this time to study Japanese, read books, and learn about myself. I have plenty of time to draw close to Jehovah in prayer and learn about Him through Bible study and church activities, in the process becoming a better person myself. I have time to devote to my website and crafts and I have the fun of being my family's "Miss 411." I couldn't do all these things - or at least not nearly as fully as I do now - if I was teaching again. So it is really thanks to my RSD that I get to enjoy all this.

People have turned away from me/friends have fallen away because of my RSD.

Luckily, I had this awakening when I was burned in a kitchen accident, but it unfolded more fully with the onset of RSD; things like traumatic injuries and RSD will show you who your true friends are. It is heart-breaking when the fall-out occurs, but in retrospect, I am grateful to know. I have also found that the majority of people are very understanding and kind if we only trust them. I think this tends to be difficult for people with RSD because we are used to being strong go-getters, so it is hard to admit weakness, but it is worth it and you will find that most people have beautiful hearts.

I can't wear normal clothes because of RSD. Clothes hurt and feel like sandpaper.

Well, I don't know about you, but I absolutely adore pajamas. They're so comfy and cuddly-soft, and the perfect attire for RSD-ers! Plus, I would wear them all the time if I could even if I didn't have RSD. ^_^
