Programs
AdAware
An excellent program for removing spyware and adware on your system for safe and secure surfing. Windows only.
AOL Instant Messenger
Yes, it's AOL, but it works, is more stable than ICQ, and is probably the most popular IM program on the planet. Now ICQ cross-compatibility makes it even more attractive for IM addicts.

Feel the joy of legal MP3 downloading. iTunes offers thousands of songs from all major labels for just 99¢ each, $9.99 per album for most albums with generous personal use rights. Cheaper than buying the CD and better for the environment, plus you can get only the songs you like, all without fear of the RIAA suing the socks off you! In addition, iTunes offers a large selection of audiobooks and is an extremely stable program. I have found iTunes to be more stable than WinAmp or Windows Media Player. The program is also pretty and easy to use. Try it!

BitTorrent is a P2P program useful for downloading digisubs (fansubs in .avi format). It is a little complicated compared to other popular P2P programs, but is more streamlined, ad-free, and more digisubs are available for torrent download.

The movie player for the Windows anime-aholic. If you download digisubs, you need this program!
The Google Toolbar
The Google Toolbar not only allows you to search from anywhere, it has other nifty capabilities, like blocking pop-ups as you surf. For Firefox and Internet Explorer.

LiveJournal is a great way to keep an online journal and keep in touch with friends near and far. Unlike Blogger, LiveJournal allows you to download an update client which allows you to post from your computer quickly and easily -- without going through the LJ site. The program also features an alert feature that will alert you when any of your friends update their journals or make a comment in response to one of your postings. LJ is, in my opinion, more of an online community than Blogger, though it does lack the flexibility to incorporate in a homepage.
Spybot searches out and destroys spyware on your system. A must for networking safety! (Windows only.)
Trillian
A must for IM addicts and those with IM friends on many different programs. Trillian integrates all of your IM programs into one interface for easy communication with all of you IM friends. Windows only.
Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy / Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
In my opinion, the most comprehensive site on the internet for information on RSD and linking to support groups.
